The knowledge at which geometry aims is knowledge of the eternal
Plato, The RepublicThe cube is one of the Platonic Solids- perfect, complex, and mathematically complete but utterly impossible to see the whole from one viewpoint.
In trying to connect to my aesthetic roots, I looked back at my early abstract inspirations- Kandinsky to the Bauhaus movement. This new series considers the possibilities of viewpoint; what is structure vs space; the interplay of light, shadows and reflection; and the infinities of center. Expressed through the medium that has been my focus for 40 years- different types of wood (plus metal, glass and minerals for fun!), I explore The Cube!
